Thomas Blanton-Schaedel, CMT, NCTM, Stress and Pain Management, Injury Prevention and Wellness Coach
My practice revolves around stress and pain management,. The mind and body are inter-connected. They effect each other. My job is to not only help you manage your pain and stress through massage therapy, but to coach and educate you to learn self-awareness, ergonomics, and different techniques to continue making progress even when you aren't on my table.
Why I do what I do: Eight years of my childhood was living in chronic pain. Three round tables of doctors, tests, procedures, and over a dozen different medications, and nothing helped. Doctors were never able to diagnose me. Growing up, I also rode horses competitively, and my horses' vet taught me how to do equine sports massage (my first dabble in massage therapy.) After high school, I knew I loved the massage therapy part of what I did for my horses, and learned that it was beneficial for humans. So, I went to school for it, and fell in LOVE! I received an Associates in Applied Science of Clinical and Therapeutic Massage with a focus in Sports Massage Therapy, and I interned for a season with the Indianapolis Indians. After I graduated, I went and worked for a chiropractor. While I was there, I took it upon myself to study my medical files with my chronic arm pain, and even consulted with my chiropractor. We learned that I had a pinched nerve the whole time. Not once did doctors refer me to physical therapy or a chiropractor, suspecting a pinched nerve.
Now, I want to be apart of helping people optimize their quality of life by providing holistic pain and stress management, and quality education to help them sustain a quality of life when not on my table.
